Using Virtual Meeting Rooms with Penji
On Penji, each tutor (advisor, coach, mentor, etc.) uses their own virtual meeting room to host sessions. This may be a Zoom, Webex, Microsoft Teams, or another provider-hosted meeting room.
Because of this, both your meeting platform settings and your Penji settings matter.
Penji does not host the video call itself — it securely shares your meeting details with students and tracks attendance alongside the session.
Supported Meeting Types
Penji supports the following virtual meeting room types:
Adding Your Meeting Info to Penji
Once your meeting room is configured:
Log in to your Penji account
Go to Settings → Select which virtual meeting system you need to setup (sometimes communities only whitelist one).
Click Edit
Enter the requested details
Important:
The Meeting Link is the most critical field.
The Meeting ID and Passcode act as backup information.
Holding a Session
Before Your Shift
Open your meeting platform
Start your meeting room
Keep Penji open alongside your call
Students receive your meeting link directly in Penji and will join once the room is live.

Penji runs alongside your meeting to track attendance and session data
Keep Penji open before, during, and after your session
Your meeting platform’s waiting room/lobby is independent of Penji features
