Basics
Drop-In mode enabled
The options here are "Enabled" and "Disabled". You can use this admin setting to control whether or not your center would like to offer drop-in mode to students. Setting this to disabled will:
- Hide the admin settings "Drop-in button label" and "Allow tutors editing drop-in hours"
- Hide the Drop-in detail on the left-hand side menu. Note, it will not delete any data, just hide it while Drop-in is not in use
- Remove the Drop-in button on the student "Learn" screen
- Remove the button used to edit Drop-in hours on the "Teach" screen
Drop-in button label
Change the text for your Drop-In button shown to students on the "Learn" screen.
Select specific Provider
For queue locations, regardless of Physical vs. Online, students have the ability to "request" a specific provider when checking in. If the student selects a specific provider, then this student only appears in the queue for that specific provider.
The Drop-In flow will be the exact same, except students will need to indicate if it is for Any or a Specific provider. Below is the additional screen students will have to fill out.
Drop-in contact information
You can add an email that users can contact if they are having any issues with drop-in.
Log mode check-in outside of scheduled hours
If you would like students to be able to check in to a kiosk (Log Mode), even when there are no tutor hours, you will want this setting on. This would be useful in instances where you would like to check different resources (independent study, time on the computer, etc.).
Provider Settings
Provider minimum slot length
The default for this will be the shortest appointment length, however, you can control what the shortest amount of time a provider can be available for during a given Drop-In shift.
Provider drop-in availability course preferences
Set whether or not providers can specify the types of courses for their drop-in hours. This will be helpful when providers want to focus on a specific course subject at a time, manage their workload better, and tailor their preparation for sessions to provide more effective and specialized support to students.
Allow providers editing drop-in hours
Set whether or not tutors can edit their own drop-in hours. Your choices are allowed or not allowed. Set to not allowed if you would like to 100% control your providers' schedules for them.
Receipts
Student & Provider Email Receipts - Drop-In
You have the ability to send students and providers a "receipt" of their Penji check-in interaction. For Log mode, the student will be emailed once they check out, there are no provider receipts sent in Log Mode. For Queue mode, once the provider completes their feedback and ends the interaction, the email receipt will be sent out to whoever the setting is enabled for.
Default settings are shown above.
The receipt will contain information about the:
- Date and Time of interaction
- Course (Subject)
- Location
- Attendance
- Duration
- What was entered in for the “Agenda” from the student (Queue Mode)
- If turned on, the Provider feedback
When providers end the interaction, if "Share provider feedback in Drop-In email receipts" is enabled, providers will be notified when completing their session feedback. It is encouraged to communicate with providers to let them know that their feedback will be shared with students if you turn this feature on.

Custom provider feedback questions
When enabled, this feature allows you to prompt students with a brief questionnaire at the end of their Drop-In session, similar to the custom feedback questions in appointments.
To enable this feature, simply go to the admin panel, navigate to Settings > Drop-In > Feedback, and then click on "Add New Question." This will allow you to set up the qualitative feedback questions for your Drop-In sessions.
